Gleb Khokhlov

Gleb Khokhlov was born in the city of Perm on March 11, 1992. He began studying the violin at five years in the 10th music school in the city of Perm, a teacher of Lyudmila Shteynikova.

From 2004 to 2011 he studied at the Ural College of Music (Ekaterinburg) in the class of Honored Artist of Russia, senior lecturer Associate Professor Ural State Conservatory Helena Latsuk.

Graduated with Honors in June 2016 from the Moscow State Conservatory in the classes of Professor Alexander Melnikov (violin) and Marina Katarzhnova (baroque violin).

In 2018 Gleb Khokhlov completed his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in the Department «Orchestra of Contemporary Music» under Prof. Vladimir Tarnopolsky.

In August 2014 visited the Academy of Chamber Music in England - British Island Music Festival (BIMF - 2014).

Since 2015 is a member of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME).

Since November 2015 is a regular participant in the festival of Contemporary Music «Moscow Autumn».

In 2017 founded the string quartet Vacuum, which specialized in contemporary music performing.

In August 2017 and 2019 - participated in the Luzern Orchestra Academy of contemporary music.

In July 2018 - won the Academy of Baroque Music in Austria (Gmunden).

Gleb Khokhov performed with such outstanding musicians as Alexey Lyubimov, Mikhail Dubov, Vladislav Pesin, Diego Tosi, and Ilya Korol. He has attended masterclasses by Ilya Korol (Austria, baroque violin), Ruben Dubrovski (Austria), Dmitry Sitkovetsky (Russia - the USA, violin), Francesco D'Orazio (Italy), Diego Tosi (France, Entercomporain ensemble), Jean - Mari Konkuir (France, Entercomporain ensemble), Christofer Otto (USA, Jack Quartet).

Gleb has performed a lot of Russian premiers of contemporary composers’ works as a soloist and chamber musician. Among them, there are works by Georg Friedrich Haas, Helmut Lachenmann, Oscar Bianchi, Carola Bauckholt, Sergej Newski, Dmitri Kourliandski and others.
